About ASTM B564 Incoloy 800/ 800h/ 800ht Forged Fittings

ASTM B564 is a standard specification established by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) that covers forged fittings made from nickel alloy materials, including Incoloy 800, 800H, and 800HT. These alloys belong to the Incoloy family, which are nickel-iron-chromium superalloys known for their excellent corrosion resistance and high-temperature strength.

Incoloy 800 alloy contains a higher level of nickel (approximately 30-35%) and chromium (19-23.5%) compared to iron, along with small amounts of other elements such as aluminum and titanium. It offers good resistance to oxidation, carburization, and sulfidation at elevated temperatures.

Incoloy 800H has a modified composition with higher carbon content (0.05-0.10%) to enhance its creep and rupture strength at temperatures above 1100°F (593°C). It retains similar corrosion resistance to Incoloy 800 but with improved high-temperature properties.

Incoloy 800HT is further heat treated to optimize its mechanical properties for high-temperature applications. It exhibits superior creep and stress rupture strengths compared to both Incoloy 800 and 800H, making it suitable for service at even higher temperatures.

The ASTM B564 specification outlines the chemical composition, mechanical properties, heat treatment, dimensions, tolerances, testing methods, and marking requirements for Incoloy 800/800H/800HT forged fittings to ensure they meet the necessary quality and performance standards for their intended applications. Manufacturers and suppliers adhere to these specifications to produce fittings that offer reliability, durability, and safety in demanding operating conditions.
